Annual General Meeting and Christmas Show

Join us for our Annual General Meeting and Christmas Show, a festive wrap up to another wonderful year with the
Sudbury Horticultural Society. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. for socializing and light refreshments.
Please bring your own coffee mug or travel mug to help keep the event waste free.

The Annual General Meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and will include year end reports and elections for
the 2026 Board of Directors. Nominations can also be made from the floor so all members have the opportunity to
participate.

Following the AGM, the hall will sparkle with our Christmas Show, where members showcase floral
designs, seasonal arrangements, and creative art inspired by this year’s theme:

“Being Festive for the Holiday”

Arrive early to enjoy the displays, reconnect with friends, and sample seasonal treats and refreshments. To make
the afternoon even more special, we will welcome live music by the Jubilee Folk Ensemble,
directed by Sandra Faubert, a community based multicultural group supported by the City of Greater
Sudbury that celebrates Canada’s rich folk traditions.

As the year winds down, please remember to return any trophies or plaques from last year’s shows,
submit your volunteer hours to Pat O’Grady.

Christmas Show Schedule

Theme: “Being Festive for the Holiday”

Please bring your entries between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Judging will begin promptly at
1:00 p.m.

Section A – Design

1. Everyone Welcome – a wreath using fresh greenery or plant material
2. Stay Awhile – a wreath using dried plant material
3. Imagination That – a seasonal door or wall decoration using fresh and or dried plant material
   (not necessarily a wreath; may be a swag, unusual container, and so on)
4. Winter Frolics – a white arrangement (grey, beige, and cream tones allowed) with greenery kept to
   a minimum
5. Candlelight – an arrangement or design using a candle or candles
6. Ho, Ho, Ho – Santa or St. Nicholas must appear somewhere in this design

Section B – Festive Features

1. Greeting card (hand made)
2. Textile or fibre arts (quilting, felting, needlework, rug hooking)
3. Painting (any medium)
4. Ornament or decor

Section C – Photography

1. Farmer’s field in winter
2. Ice !!!
3. Snowy branches
4. Winter wildlife
5. A house plant
6. Father Christmas

Section D – Youth

1. Photography – Winter wildlife
2. A greeting card (hand made)
